First charge waived, sending the letter for the second on Tuesday. Excellent work, thanks for the guidance!

So the 'Hot Bring special' G24 appeal wording worked again!

    Hello folks.

My grandad (the relative and registered keeper) had a letter from a debt recovery agency for a different charge come through yesterday. The one that's been waived was on the 6th of Jan, the one that's in the process of being waived was on the 1st of April, yet this one is for the 22nd of Jan. There has been zero prior correspondence regarding this particular charge. Are they just losing the plot?

According to this debt recovery agency we've lost the right to appeal, however with no previous correspondence what do I need to do?

The simplest option I'm guessing is just reset the timer by saying I was driver?

We definitely haven't had any correspondence regarding this particular charge, I have it all. Not to mention they started sending the letters recorded delivery!

    A little help good people?

Yes - as it was an ANPR camera PCN, the driver has never seen it - but the keeper writes the letter naming the driver. There's a link to an example in the NEWBIEs thread I think, where it talks about resetting the clock (don't use those 'resetting the clock' words in the letter). The driver stays silent until they get their own PCN.

Another letter stating the driver sent then. At least I'm in a routine now.

So this time, they're saying there's nothing they can do.

Twice I've sent the letter saying I was the driver, twice they've said my appeal isn't valid. The only difference in this case is that the notice has gone to a debt collector because it arrived earlier before I picked them all up.

Rang them earlier, and they said that the registered keeper must contact the debt collector. Am I right in saying that at any time the keeper can inform G24 they weren't the driver?

Firstly they said my appeal was outside of 28 days, then they said you couldn't change details after so long (despite it having been done before) then they said it was up to the debt collection company.

Debt collection agencies are parasites who feed off the ignorance and intimidation of others. They have absolutely no powers at all apart from sending threatening letters stating impending litigation. If you have told G24 the name of the driver at the time and it's not the registered keeper then you do not need to do anything else. G24 don't have a reputation of taking people to court, so I'd sit it out and wait for the paper trail to stop. What you never do is ever call anybody. They know that way that they have your attention and it will take longer for the threatagrams to go away.

Ah well, the call was a mistake then.

In that case, they've been notified, I'll just leave it. All I wanted was an end to the paper trail!

Personally I'd now ignore G24 as they have never done court.

You could send something like :

"Do what you want, as you've never done court I couldn't care less how much of your own money you waste. My hamster rather likes your letters.

Oh, by the way, if by the off chance you did figure out how to fill in the court papers then I will be highlighting to the judge that POFA sets no time limit on the Registered Keeper to inform you who the driver was.
