It was - and I'd suggest that it would be well worth watching for anyone affected. Includes practical advice on how to get round the problems caused:

Hello all, I'm new to the party, only just found out about this farce via Rip Off Britain. My mum put her home in trust and I am now starting the long, expensive and anxiety-ridden journey of trying to untangle this mess for her. I've had a read of the threads but wondered, now we're a long way down the road, whether anyone has some tried and tested decent advice. I've contacted some solicitors but as a complete layman, not sure what's best to do next?

If you look back on the thread there's a firm of solicitors who specialise in undoing these trusts. No idea how good they are but not seen any bad reports.0

Hello Nina
I was in the same boat as all these others, whose family have had to unravel the mess caused by Universal. You can use any decent solicitor, but I can personally recommend the one I used, who has successfully ended their control over the property in trust. You can make yourself (or whoever) as the new trustee quite simply.
Barker Goatlee Solicitors are in Ipswich, and due to location have dealt with quite a lot of Universal clients. I used Ann-Marie Matthews, and she was excellent. Cost just under £400, and put the property back in the family with the Land Registry. Then you can close the trust or sell it as you wish.
I’m just a client who chased Universal for 5 years (you may see my earlier post) and now the property is safe, but we accept that cash assets are lost thanks to the Longs.

I wonder how Mr Longs holidays in Mexico are going!!0

Apologies for jumping on this old thread but I have some concerns regarding a family trust set up with Universal Wealth Preservation in 2013 which includes my late Father's house. This has switched to Cohen Knight under my approval but I am now having second thoughts on as this, feeling that it was possibly a bad decision. I am only now understanding the full extent of the type of business Universal Wealth Preservation was and fear the same from Cohen Knight.
I have read through this thread and seen a couple of positive posts about Cohen Knight handling of matters. One poster claims they engaged Cohen Knights to transfer the trust in names of the Longs over to themselves, the rightful beneficiaries in order to fix the problem. My situation is slightly different as the trustees have been switched from Universal Wealth Preservation and the Longs over to Cohen Knight.
As it appears to be known within this thread, Cohen Knight popped up as soon as Universal Wealth Preservation was dissolved and some of the employees of UWP work for Cohen Knight.
Since my Father's passing, I have consulted a local Solicitor for advice but fear the worst after their initial free advice session. Their advice is to request winding up the Trust but will be entirely up to the Trustees if they want to do so this as the they have the title to the house and it is registered in their names with the land registry etc.
I suppose I'm just looking if anyone else has recently had any dealings of a similar nature with Cohen Knights and what the outcome was.
Any help/feedback is much appreciated.0
