    You can also use opera max to compress data on android.

    I use Opera Classic and didn't know about Opera Max.

    Just had a look on the Play Store and it's only the beta version. Do you still think it's worth my while changing?

    I also tend to turn data off when I am not going to need it, Driving, wife is asleep when doing nights etc. It is a fairly quick process to turn data off on most Android phones.
    I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

    I would be very wary of any app that hijacks your data, it's also known as spyware. There is no valid reason why the phone itself couldn't compress the data...

    There needs to be compression at the server and the decompression is done by the phone. Some of the low data browsers use their servers to redirect your data. Google, the web mail providers and the mobile phone companies already acquire metadata on everything you do in a similar way to Onavo's terms which seemed no worse than any other when I read them before trying Onavo a while back.
