    The full payment for 12 months ahead is DUE in the April. Most(all?) companies let you pay it in two instalments April/Oct or set up a monthly DD.


    However if companies have experienced payment problems with the customer,(missed DD payments etc) I believe they can insist on payment up front!

    OP, Thames Water let you split the bill over 8 monthly instalments, you can set it up online
