Im not one to usually faff about such things and would normally say just buy another box, but on this occasion i would say that due to all the problems asking Boots to source and fund a suitable case is not unresonable.

    Update:

I collected my sunglasses last week, they fit in the box if you put them in the "correct way" and the tint is now perfect, Boots gave me £15 in points and I was happy.

However, I was wearing them today and when I took them off they snapped at the hinge! I'm livid... so yet another trip back to the store, this time to get a refund as I'm not messing around with them any more.

Humour me here as I'm worrying they will think it was my fault. Do you think removing the lenses three times could be the reason they have broken? I can't think of any other reason why they would break just from being on my face. Has anyone had any experience of Boots and their Opticians refunding?

My frames snapped after five months (Optical Express) and when I took them back they put my lenses into a new frame that was on display. If they still have the frames in stock, they might (should) do that. The did it while I waited.

That makes me feel slightly better but I bet I still face a debate with the manager tomorrow. Such a pain, I really don't need another trip to town, I'm so busy this week.

I thought I'd update this thread.

Today I finally received a call from the Regional Manager for Boots Opticians. He was very nice, very polite and apologetic. He couldn't believe the comedy of errors and the way the store handled it.

He very kindly offered a full refund, which of course I accepted. This was much more than I was expecting and I'm extremely pleased :D However he couldn't answer the question of whether the staff were aware of their errors and if they had been properly trained in ordering lenses now.

A "designer" name is no guarantee of quality. Just means the maker has paid to use it.

So now you have got a full refund, together with the cost of contacts for your holiday in March, and £15 in points. Seems a good outcome to me, and excellent customer service (even if slow).

Maybe you could now get a pair of ordinary sunglasses (not designer), and spend the savings on a good meal or evening out:)

Yes I would agree, they have been more than kind on all occasions where it has gone wrong. It was just a pity that each time I was offered 'compensation' it was followed by another error.

I don't need another pair of glasses... as I was allowed to keep the designer ones :j They were genuinely above and beyond my expectations! Savings to be spent on nursery fees
