Hi everyone,
My friend received a parking fine yesterday for parking on private land (she'd parked at the back of a business who aren't even open on a Saturday!) from a company called CPS Ltd. signage is actually pretty clear, although I'd dispute it if it were my ticket on actual losses alone (if business wasn't open how can there be losses worth £60!)
What intrigued me when she showed me, and I suspect are pure scare tactics, is it's £60 if she pays within 14 days the goes up to£100. I've read all of the newbies info on here, but because the parking charge notice isn't mine was reading it without the notice to hand, so have advised her to look on here herself. Based on what the ticket says if she waits for the RK notice it will already have gone up to £100 by that time. Is that possible? Surely if it gets to that stage they have to give the RK a chance to pay at reduced rate?! Is it worth contacting CPS to try & get it cancelled now?
Does anyone have any experience of CPS?
Thanks for any advice anyone can give.

Hi KittyKitten,
If this was in England or Wales the best way to deal with it is to appeal and yes if it was windscreen ticket it's better to wait for the postal notice to keeper.
It's not a fine - only the police or council can issue fines - it's an invoice
Read the NEWBIES sticky thread at the top of the main board - link below for all the advice needed for a better than 99% chance to get this cancelled and your friend will pay nothing

and take a look at the flow chart

Would definitely NOT advise contacting them - you are making the mistake of thinking they will be reasonable - they won't - and your friend risks giving away who the driver was - The keeper has stronger appeal points that's why it's better to wait.0 -
Thanks to both of you. I'll point my friend in the direction of your advice.OS weight loss challenge: 4.5/6 lbs0

Is it Combin ed Par king Services Ltd? - Spaces deliberately left as perky frequents the forum and has been known to contact people to incriminate themselves - so beware any PMs from newbies or posters that don't contribute tons to the board.
If it is, come back here after you have read the sticky, one of the more experienced people will help you craft an appeal and win. Its because perky claims its a pre-agreed charge, not a GPEL for breach of contract nor damages for trespass. (he's supposed to pay VAT if he's providing a service to the motorist but I suspect he doesn't). He only had one appeal go to POPLA last year and he lost. He is quite litigious so do come back for help.Originally Posted by shortcrust
