Personally, if that were mine, I'd move the door in the bedroom to a more central location on the wall and block up the existing door way. I'd then knock through into the bedroom and builld a stud wall and put a shower in that space (much what I've done in my own house except the space for the shower was a boiler cupboard but by the time the builder made my house they'd switched to combi's so it was a dead space!)

You'll not lose much from the edroom but the space gained in the bathroom will be very much worth it.
