Parking ticket from Vehicle Control Services..help!

Today I recurved a fixed penalty notice for £100 (60 if paid within 14 days). I was parked in a Lloyd's TSB designated spot at the rear of some shops. They issued the ticket 6 minutes after I left the car. I have appealed on the basis that I used the cashpoint as well as visiting one other shop, and that 6 minutes is not ample time for a somebody to use a cash machine, as there may be a queue. Another point I wish to raise should they decline my appeal, is that the bank is actually closed on a Saturday from 1200 hours, and i paeked uip at 1236..therefore does the space then become a valid parking space? Does anybody know any answers to my questions or can anybody offer any help? I did notice that a ticket had been issued to the car next to me, however they had simply thrown theirs on the floor before leaving the car park. Vehicle control services (the issuing company) state they require my full address to deal with my appeal, does this sound correct? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

    New a few more facts:
    1) Are you the registered keeper of the car?
    2) Was this in England/Wales?
    3) Do you live in England/Wales?
  • Yes i am the registered keeper and it was in england. I do live in england also....

Ok, the standard advice at this stage then is to do nothing. You should receive a Notice to Keeper through the post in the next 29-56 days. You should then appeal, as the registered keeper, using the template in the Newbie Sticky Thread.

In the meantime have a read of the Newbie sticky thread to familiarise yourself with the process and the flow chart in post number 12 of this thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4922055
  • I dont suppose you know whether it is an authorised parking spot if the designated place of business is in fact closed, do you?

Makes no difference, it's private land, that's the important bit.

I just re-read your original post, have you submitted an appeal already?
  • Yes, I emailed them straight away.

Oh right, in that case you probably won't receive a letter through the post. They'll probably reject your appeal and issue you with a POPLA reference code. You have probably also identified yourself as the driver.

That's a shame as that's not the advice in the NEWBIES thread, but never mind - you should get a rejection letter soon with a POPLA code or form attached. Please read the NEWBIES thread at the top of the forum and at POPLA stage you need to read post #3 of it, shows you how to win. We do win every POPLA appeal right now, and this will be no different if you word it for POPLA as advised in the sticky thread. Please don't rush it like you rushed to unnecessarily appeal the driver's ticket. You weren't best advised to appeal as driver but what's done is done and you'll still win at POPLA.
