Oh great... well I finally got a response from Crowdflower, and they're telling me that the reason I haven't got a badge is because I have accessed tasks using a proxy server!!!?????
I have never accessed tasks using a proxy server... wouldn't have the first clue how to, and no idea why I would even want to? What would be the point?
And what they've written doesn't even make sense... if they normally ban, then why hadn't they? Why did it take me writing and re-writing about not being reviewed to get a 'warning'? It seems like an excuse.
"Thanks for writing back. It appears as though you have accesses tasks using a proxy server which is violation of our terms of service which we would normally ban your account for. This time we just warning you, but if it happens again we will ban your account(s).
Unfortunately this not the type of behavior we reward with a level badge which is why you do not have a level badge."
Its nonsense... I have never ever ever ever used one... arrrrgh!!!?
Does anyone know anything about proxy servers, or whether someone like Sky can use proxies without you knowing?
What bizarre nonsense
Its like they're making up excuses for all their server and system problems by pretending that its your fault, strange. Alright, that may not be the problem, but still ridiculous of them to make such accusations. I don't know a lot about proxies, but the general gist of what they are, is that they're tools to anonymise your personal information and identity online, like your IP address, so say if you were banned from CS or any website for that matter, you could in theory just use a proxy to hide your identity to make a new account without their system recognising you as a banned IP address, which is why they don't want people using them. People also use to them to download illegal torrents if their ISP has blocked torrent sites. At least, I think that's pretty much what they are, though if you look on wikipedia, they're certainly not that simple to understand.0 -
Rachel, have you tried clearing your history and switching your router off and on again?
I've never been banned from crowdflower or clixsense but occasionally when I log on a get a message saying I am unable to view the offers page as i'm using a proxy server. Like you, I would have no idea how to use a proxy server. I just clear my history and turn my router off and on again and it seems to work.
EDIT: Your situation does sound slightly more serious. The message I got was just like an automated message which would pop up on my screen. I didn't receive an official warning. That message probably comes up with me because I regularly change my IP address so I can complete surveys on both swagbucks and clixsense. It wasn't related to tasks.Pay-outs since 28/11/2013:

I'm usually quite happy to do them but i'm still a bit rough from the bank holiday weekend. Normal service resumed tomorrow hopefully.Pay-outs since 28/11/2013:

Right in time for the survey companies to hopefully start churning them out
Hope you're rough because of a big weekend and not illness! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Yes, self inflicted. Always the same on a bank holiday weekend with everyone off work.Pay-outs since 28/11/2013:

Glad to hear it! If you have the effort there were quite a few quick and easy SSI surveys earlier for 85C each. one or two said 20-25 minutes but they really weren't!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I find I can race through most in half the time, or less. The ones that tend to drag are the hall and partners or my survey!Pay-outs since 28/11/2013:

Yes! The My Survey ones - urgh! I still do them, I'm a member of My Survey as well anyway, but I have recently realised if you leave them open too long you always get an error at the end! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Yeah, i'm also a member. Sometimes I do them through other sites like Global Test Market as well. They can be a real grind, so repetitive!Pay-outs since 28/11/2013:

I've been looking at the wiki page about proxies and it's as clear as mud. I can't even work out why a person would use one on CF... why would you want to hide your identity... and not get paid!?
I only one have CF account.
I did try to set up a new one when i first signed up to Clixsense because I didn't understand that you could/were supposed to use the same CF account across both CS and Swagbucks- I thought you needed a separate one for each site... but they never sent me out the verification code so the 'second' account never actually got made.
I've replied to 'Kevin' and sent them an email too... I want to know exactly what task it 'appears' I used a proxy for, because it does feel like a complete fob-off. I don't think my other half has done anything to the computer either... he's less computer friendly than I am.Swagbucks since 28 Jan £125 ~//~ Various Research Projects £230 ~//~ Clixsense since 3 Mar $488.52 ~//~ (Total £365 + $488.52)0
