Best way to temporarily fix a leaking shed roof?

Hi,

We have our tenants moving in today, but after ripping up the old awful carpet in the shed (god knows why the previous landlord thought carpet in a damp shed would be a good idea...) we've noticed there is a small leak in the roof, that after the incredibly heavy rain yesterday has let a lot of water in:

Here's the shed:

And here's the inside:

I'm going to do my best to clear it up now before they move in (the photo was taken yesterday right after the awful rain, so it's already better) but I need to get a quick fix in place whilst we arrange for the roof to be replaced.

It's a small crack, maybe 4mm that is letting in the water, so I was tempted by this instant patch tape? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Roof-Gutter-Instant-Patch-Tape/dp/B003VOQDF8/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1396088431

Or would we be better off with some waterproof sealant paste? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ronseal-TERS1L-Thompsons-Emergency-Roof/dp/B001GU6I9U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1396089038

Thanks!

I would use a tarpaulin if its temporary its easy to replace felt though

Leave shed door open for wood to dry out if you can

Where the drips are coming from the roof may not be where it's leaking on the outside. The leak in the roof-felt could be at a high point and running down the wood, so i think i'd try to fix the outside.
Perhaps get 5ltr of that tar type paint to cover the whole roof, or price up some of that thick blue plastic, that builders use as Dpc, and tack a piece to cover the whole roof. That's easier and quicker than painting tar paint and should last a lot longer.

You are going to have to refelt the roof , but a standard roll will be more than enough.
So just buy a roll , cut a section off and nail on.
Then when you have more time , do the job correctly with rest of the roll.

Simple and very cost efficient, and your new tenants will see that action is taking place.

Now that's what I call a low maintenance garden.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Why the urgency in getting this leak fixed - are the tenants moving into the shed?

Flashing tape applied with a bit of heat from a naked flame or hot air gun

Anyone care to guess whats under the wooden structure, on the decking , next to the shed? And is the an electrical outlet on the edge of the decking?

I have no idea what the weird table thing is, maybe something for plants to go on? The whole decking is a mess tbh and will hopefully fix it up/replace it at some point. (edit) and it's a solar light, not an electrical outlet :D

Thanks all for the suggestions! Think we'll order a roll of felt as suggested and just put in a temporary fix for now before re-doing the whole thing properly then.

As for the urgency... well, there's no pressure from the tenants to get it fixed, but I feel bad them moving in under the proviso they have a shed to put their things in, but anything they put in there now will be ruined next time it rains

Pretty much it, but don't do what the people that roofed the shed previously did!
I don't think I've ever seen a shed with the felt (appearing to be) applied in quarters, which is possibly why it's leaking :)
