Ive seen the school menu in the school my mum teaches in, its very healthy, loads of healthy options.

The hard bit is getting them to choose the healthy option.

Are these hot meals? I've never understood children having hot meals at school.

Really? I think it's very important. They are burning so much physical and mental energy that they need a proper meal in the day.

Nurseries provide a hot meal and dessert too.

In an ideal world children would have good school meals, free and probably the main meal of the day.

However, where will the money for this come from?

Why? A hot, nutritious and filling meal is just what they need, and for some, that might be the only hot meal they get.

It can be cheaper to provide a hot meal than a 'picnic' meal.

Two hot meals a day can't be good can it? I never had a hot meal at school, never fancied the processed muck they churned up either.

When I was at primary school back in the mists of time, I lived around ten mins walk away from school. Sometimes I had a school dinner, sometimes a packed lunch and sometimes I went home.

At secondary school more often than not I had a school dinner as it was a bit further away again.

What damage are you envisioning it could cause?

Just seems like a lot of food, you wouldn't have two teas at home.
