Laugh? I almost paid a parking eye charge for him!

Oh dear. I told him to avoid the park and and go somewhere else.

Would he listen? No. He had to call by the park, just to check that I wasn't winding him up about the £100 charge if he didn't pay the £1 per hour fee or overstayed..

Pity I never mentioned the anpr cameras.

He stayed for 5 mins to check the signage. Yep...£100. And drove off.

He texted later, telling me 'this is criminal. Won't be parking there in a rush'.

5 mins, he insists.

'Lets hope the anpr is accurate' I texted back.

I bet he's worried.

A NTK is surely on its way.

Advice from the highly-experienced crew here?

I'd be most grateful, as will 'he' - nice guy but not too hot with taking advice from friends.

i'm assuming this is a 'private' car park enforced by PPC, rather than a council car park or the like?

Based on reading some other posts on here, i'd say write them a strongly worded letter telling them that you dispute the speculative invoice, and pointing out to them that as this is effectively a civil contractual issue that they can only charge for and claim for their genuine losses of earnings and/or revenue caused by not paying the parking fee, and offer to send them payment of £1 to cover the charge you should have paid for an hours parking.

There are various stickies and threads to read that explain how to handle this.

Thanks. Yes, a private car park. I feel a bit guilty about not pointing out the anpr technology ( I knew it was there ) but I'm still finding it amusing, given that I'd advised to steer clear.

I'm only assuming that PE will go after him, as he's yet to receive a notice.

If and when that happens, I'm guessing that a 5 min 'stay' will be enough to stuff any 'claim'.

    Or maybe not.

Should he get one - you'll be able to help Curious George easily get a charge notice cancelled.

Have a read of the NEWBIES thread for info on how and template 1st appeal letters

As he only stayed 5 mins theres also another point that applies which is "Grace Periods" i.e. time to check out the terms and conditions and decide whether you wish to park.

Take a look too at the thread by Carthesis - it's priceless:D
