Frustrated with open reach

Hi there could somebody help me on the following matter in jan 2014 I changed my telephone&broadband provider from Virgin to sky. Sky came on the 31 Jan and installed the TV in the afternoon a open reach engineer came to connect the phone line and said he could not get a signal and left i rang sky and they said open reach could not come again till 20March on that date an engineer called and after 3hrs said there was a break some where outside of the property and they would need to send a a team to sweep the line in the street. I rang sky and was told we had to wait for Bt. to find a multi skilled engineer to do the job. We are now going into our third month without broadband and a landline. I am 78yrs old and finding it very expensive to use my pay as you go mobile and have been offered no redress by sky hoping someone can advise thank you so much.

After 3m without service it's time for a written complaint to Sky. Don't email, phone or message them. Send it in writing by RD, and head it 'Complaint'. They then have 8 weeks to resolve the problem.
Technically you have no contract with Sky, since the service has not commenced, but switching to another provider will not solve the problem if it's a line issue.
I presume that you have not been billed anything by Sky?No free lunch, and no free laptop

Open Reach are a bureaucratic nightmare; thoroughly unionised for the employees benefit!
No wonder BT hived them off as a separate unit.
Almost as Luddite as the miners were some 30 odd years ago.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
Many of the OR engineers are sub contractors .0

And work automatically allocated to them by the work allocation system
Agree you need to escalate this with sky , they are the only ones who can chase this upEx forum ambassador

marrow may or may not be correct about the reason Openreach is such an abysmal performer but he is spot on saying that they are. No shows and charges made for line faults (rather than cutomer equipment faults) are regular features of this and any other board discussing broadband.
I've had a no-show myself and a phone line that still wasn't working correctly after 5 visits - the only way I got past that one was by moving to cable for a few years. I'm back on phone based internet now but they had the install a new line for that. My first attempt to return was the no-show so I stayed with cable an extra year on a cheap retention deal.0
