DVA - what will happen now?

Just putting this on the thread as of much interest around here (Coleraine).
DVA functions (apart from Driver licensing and vehicle testing) will transfer to DVLA in Swansea from July.
All NI local offices will close, all paper work will have to go to Wales apart from taxing vehicles can go to post office.
What I had noticed that all the hype from DVLA was that finally we will get to tax our cars online and by phone for the first time.
Someone forgot to tell them we have a telephone system available - which they (DVLA) did not want to fund in NI.
In my opinion it's a blow to NI - good luck in trying to get through to Swansea, or trying to get anything sorted urgently!

I have seen several reports on this and it is a terrible blow for those being made redundant and for Coleraine.
I have not heard any reports of those affected in Coleraine being offered jobs in Swansea. If they are not being offered jobs there, then why not as there will surely be more people required there and the people in Coleraine are well trained.0 -
with this will it be possible to transfer a mainland number plate to NI without paying the extra ?0

So in order to tax a vehicle one must now go to the Post Office?0

AN awful loss to the North coast and the people in NI the government is driving our country to its knees bit by bit, where is the workers meant to find jobs at Now ?~We are all going to hell and guess who Is driving the bus~*Norn Iron club Member 294* (Hi, we’ve had to remove part of your signature. Buy a number plate in mainland UK have it on your car within 7 days.
Keep it on retention if you want when selling the car etc...
Buy a number plate in NI & wait 6-8 weeks for same
Add the extra £80 government tax & get screwed again for living in NI
I also had the misfortune of having to book 2 MOTs this month & not once did my "requested" postal confirmation arrive
Sometimes when things are broken they need fixed ... just saying0 -

Sad new for the staff but good news for the customer.0

In one of the many IT or scientific companies that are having to bring staff in from overseas since they can't get enough locals possibly?0 -
I'm looking forward to the improved tax system. But I do hope they keep their hands off MOTs... Giving that ability to rip off drivers to garages, is a negative point of the mainland system.0
