Free installation with Virgin Media Broadband? **UPDATE - got it :)

Hi all,
I purchased Virgin Media Broadband only the other day, and they're coming to install on the 31st.
However, installation is going to cost almost £50. The guy came round to check the other day and I already have the wiring, so essentially they're charging me £50 to plug in a cable, which I could do myself...
Is it worth calling them up and threatening to leave? What do you think?
Thank you
UPDATE!! *** They originally agreed half price installation, then he put me on hold to speak to his supervisor. Came back saying that, as I am a new customer, they've decided to waive the entire installation fee!
Result!! :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::T:T:T:T:T:rotfl:
:j:j:j:j:beer::beer::beer::beer::money:
:money::money::cool::cool::cool:
and it only took 12 minutes (including going through the menu, being on hold for a couple minutes etc) to do it!

Mine was free, do call them if you are in the 7 (working ) day cooling off period and tell them you found a better deal elsewhere with free installation and that it is too expensive0 -

Yeah, I should be :-) I ordered it last Friday.
They will ask me who the other deal is with though, won't they? I was having a look and couldn't find one that I could really quote with free installation..
I guess it's worth a try though .. I'm just really nervous about it! I'm not a natural haggler in the slightest.New single Mum & student Nurse working for our future.

They're going to waive £25 off the charge
so it'll be £24.95 now...
Not sure if I could have managed to get it completely free but this is a start, especially for someone like me who HATES haggling!
Whoo whoo
P.S - I know about the whole 'customer retentions' thing and have heard of the massive savings people have made but, wow, I'm shocked how quickly they agree to discounts, lol! I didn't have to fight them for it at all...
UPDATE!! *** He put me on hold to speak to his manager and came back saying that, as a new customer, installation will in fact be FREE for me now

well done - result!!!:beer:
by the way, the whole installation charge is a con anyway, if the house is cabled plus the equipment they give you is not yours , it is owned by VM you are just renting it - so it should be free0 -
