Can someone tell me if a mobile contract is invalid if the mobile number is incorrect on the contract?

Wouldnt think so but you would need 'proper' legal advise. I would imagine that there are an awful lot of contracts like that. For example every single one where someone moves to another provider. When you transfer in with a PAC the original number on the contract wont be the one you have a week later.

Reason I ask is that I've just upgraded my mobile and the guy in the shop looked at my previous usage and put me on a different contract. Just got my first bill in and its nearly £220!!!!! I was only paying £20-£30 per month on my old contract. Turns out this new contract only has an allowance of 250 mins free and my old one was 500 mins free. Can I claim a mis-sold contract??

So none of that has anything to do with a different number. You can only really claim you were mis-sold if they said you will get 500 mins and you got 250. It is up to you to check what tariff you are on. It sounds like you basically didnt listen and didnt read the contract. This wouldnt even be small print, its the main part of the contract.

Sorry, didn't give you the whole picture. My last bill showed I used 337 mins. So why put me on a contract that's only 250 mins free? I put my trust in the sales person to check out my history, which is obviously more than 250 mins a month. The reason I mentioned about the wrong number on the contract was because I thought may be I had a good case to argue that this contract wasn't for this phone. Had he looked up the wrong number in the first place and therefore got the wrong history?

Thats pretty much it. To be honest though it seems every company these days is trying to rip you off. I now use online chat when i can (because i can save the transcript) and use my mobile to call businesses (because it has an auto recording app on it). So i record EVERY single call to/from everyone. Personal calls are deleted every week, business calls are downloaded to the computer and noted with the number, date, company and what the call was about.

I also make sure i ask specific questions so i get a recorded answer. For example i recently phoned orange about changing a mobile number. I recorded the call and made sure to ask and get a response to the question 'will this affect the minimum term of the contract?'

AND i always read the contract before signing it (saved me getting shoved onto a 24 month phone contract when i specifically requested a 12 month with Orange).

Well that's all well and good if your in the "know how", have the "technology" and are "on the ball". However, the majority of people are not and don't always have the resources so we are the ones who are being caught out. But I guess that's how most companies make their money by taking advantage of the more vulnerable......

Ring up T-Mobile and just act friendly but professional making the complaint that you have been misold the contract and are a bit annoyed about it, at the least some money should be taken off or your contract should be sorted!

I did, but they said I should take it up with the manager of the store where I took out the contract. Told them I had already done this and said they couldn't do anything and I should ring 150 - arrrrggghhh. I asked them for an address to complain to and they said they would text it to me. Still waiting.......
