Everyone is going to do such glamorous and exciting things this morning - screwfix and Ikea
Somehow I've got to choose a new single bed for sons room, silver metal frame with a high floor clearance (but not a hi bed or a bunk) to stuff can be stored underneath.
And even worse a mattress to go with it
Its for a guest room but one guest is going to be with us for numerous weeks
There does not seem to be much choice about - Ikea don't seem to have much. I saw something suitable on Argos but OH sniffed at the idea.
Id rather get a basic bed and a very good mattress rather than over pay for the frame“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Well, if you are doing the choosing and OH is not helping you then he will have to accept what you chooseWhat is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Good question. I am treading very careful with OH. He had a full blown paddy about the new guest room, basically he does not want any furniture of any description in the room whatsoever because its all so shiny and new and lovely - even me suggesting a rug sent him into spasms :rotfl:
I suppose best thing for me to do is to say this is the bed Ive found, this is the mattress and I am going to order it.
He wants to go around bensons for beds which is not going to help much“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. She did mention something along those lines also, he is 16
I hope you get the appointment sooner than 2 weeks.
Had terrible trouble when DD3 broke her arm as she had just turned 16 and even though still at school was classed as an adult. They were not going to let me stay with her overnight and put her on an adult ward with lots of elderly people who had broken hips, shoulders etc. and didn't know the time of day.
I wasn't going anywhere they would have had to get security to shift me, once they realised that next day they moved her into a side room. So I could stay without getting in the way.
Some local authorities have different rules as to when children are adults for hospital wards, some it's 18 some 16.
I could have understood if she had finished that school year but to all intents and purpose she was a child not allowed to leave school at that point. Not in the adult world.0 -
Ive just had a hilarious conversation with a spam caller.
Firstly they asked if I was the home owner.
I said I could not tell them that as it was against the Data Protection act (I wish now that I had quoted a fictional section and sub section)
That put him off his set patter and he said it says here you are the home owner.
I said I cant tell you that as its against the Data Protection Act.
I asked him where he had got his information from and he said xxxx which is the name of my village. I said that is not a person or an organisation its a place name so I again asked him about his sourse.
So he said there wasn't anything like that
- I said you mean the Data protection Act does not exist
At this point he gave up and put the phone down
