Not directly inherited. Your parents could both have brown eyes and you can have blue eyes.....or any other combinations0 -

Oh, I guess in a way you are right
1. If both parents have blue eyes, the children will have blue eyes.
2. If both parents have brown eyes, a quarter of the children will have blue eyes, and three quarters will have brown eyes.
3. The brown eye form of the eye color gene (or allele) is dominant, whereas the blue eye allele is recessive.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

both my parents had brown eyes....I have blue eyes. I am therefore a quarter of nothing as I have no siblings.
Eye colour isn't a good indicator, it can have throw backs just as skin colour can0 -

Good point, blood group is no more certain than eye colour. Were they A, A or B, B?
edit: or A,B“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

Oh I didn't even mean to quote you Dave, was trying for Claire but sooo tired....
Genetics can be dominanat and recessive, also sex linked.
Its not only one or two generations, it can go back further.
Eye, hair and skin colour follow this rule but so does blood groups.......my mum used to breed birds and we started researching sex linked and recessive genes to get the colours.
We then had a bit of fun with humans and of course our own family.
My blood group is A negative, neither of my parents have this group but they think one of my grandparents may have, it is of course linked to rhesus factor for women, so we know none of the women had it.
they are both A positive
I am A negative.0 -
