Evening all, hope everyone is ok? I've been trying to keep up but not easy as I'm busy decorating and the thread moves so fast. Have I missed anything?
I've took a panel off our fireplace which revealed an old cast iron one behind, not sure if I can do anything with it though as there is no grate or anything, also not sure if I would ever be allowed to use it as a real fire, much as I would love too :(

its worth getting someone to take a look at your chimney if you are serious about using it...we have done simila in two seperate houses and TBH a grate is reasonably easy to source.

In our current house we have 2 real fireplaces that work ...one in the dining room and one in the bedroom...we found the dining room one covered up...and put in the bedroom one seperately

They really are lovely in the winter....

Hi there. I'm very sorry to hear this. I wondered where the wombles had gone yesterday and was almost going to ask. Please start posting them again - they provide valuable information.

I'm sorry I've come across as critical, I wasn't intending to. My aim behind it was good-intentioned, in order to try to save money. It was just my inability to avoid picking over things and drawing out little details, as well as not resisting have my two penn'orth. I'll try and rein myself in a little from now. In retrospect, I can see the final straw was probably the tiger baguettes, which you posted at 75p vs 50p (which is a positive APG vs Morries). I think now you were only intending to highlight items Avs M being cheaper. I chipped in, though, intending to save money - I'm like those blasted 'swap and saves' that keeps coming up on msm, suggesting 'cheaper' alternatives that sometimes turn out not to be cheaper and, in my case, things that aren't even available as options at the time.

Sorry for coming across as critical. Believe me I'm also my own biggest critic - and my own self-criticism is sometimes demoralising to myself - and part of the 'perfectionism' streak that I am constantly aspiring to (and which is unattainable to achieve).

Please keep posting your wombles, including if possible any missed from yesterday. I'll try and keep quiet or ignore my comments!
