Using mobile abroad. help needed please
I have a bog standard Nokia mobile on an O2 pay as you go package. I pay £10 a month and always have more minutes/texts than I really need so have never felt the need to upgrade to a fancy mobile.
I am going to America next Wednesday and although I feel really dumb asking this I would like to know if there is any way I would be able to use my phone from there?
I was thinking of ringing O2 and asking if its possible but don't want to look really dumb if its not possible.
I don't mind looking dumb on here- you cant see me:rotfl::rotfl:

"A bog standard Nokia" is likely to be a 2-band 2g phone with GSM 900/1800 capabilities. It won't work in USA where the frequencies are GSM 850 and 1900:

On that website you can check your phone too. Use 'Search' in the top right corner.0 -
Three include the USA in their "feel at home" list of countries, which means users can use the phone in the same way as if they were still in the UK and at the same cost (although it would cost the same to call a local USA number as if you called it from the UK). Three will only work on 3G capable phones...0

If it's a tri-band model then yes you can use it, but you will pay roaming charges. No free lunch, and no free laptop
