Where best to book USA Hotels online

We are planning a holiday this summer touring Western USA. Are there any reliable discount booking sites to book motels. Thanks for any advice!

Depending on your plans and as to how flexible your overnight location will be Priceline can get you some great bargains.


You'll also find, when you get there, that gas stations, Malls etc have small paper magazines that are full of discount coupons for the local motels etc. These coupons are good for walk ins only so there is a chance you won't find room at the Inn.

I've never booked a USA motel\hotel room on-line.If I'm touring, I just get a Lonely Planets guide book from the library and use that as an accomodation guide.

This website is connected to the coupon magazines mentioned earlier. You can print the coupon before you go and it gives you an idea about where hotel.motels are located. Most of them can only be used as you arrive in person and there is no guarantee that there will be any rooms left at that price - although we almost always got a room. Watch out for weekends, as that is when it can be difficult to get a room.

It also gives telephone numbers for the hotels, so you could ring them to book a room if you didn't want to leave it to chance.
