Gas Boiler

Is it cheaper to leave my gas boiler on all the time, rather than switching it off and on at certain times of the day. Someone said it would be cheaper to just keep it ticking over all of the time.
Thanks for any advice/help regarding this.

Been covered many many times on this forum.
It is always cheaper to switch it on only when needed. The longer it is off the less gas you will use.
It is an urban myth that comes up time and again, that it is somehow cheaper to leave it on. - Completely wrong.
If you were told to keep your kettle simmering on the hob all day to save gas you might think that strange advice. Same principle!!0 -
I had a new gas boiler installed last year. It's one of those condensing ones that we should have had fitted an age ago that's more environmentally friendly, more fuel efficient etc etc. However, I was certain our gas usage was higher than before. Turns out the boiler has a feature of keeping a small amount of water warm/hot so you'd always have pretty much instant hot tap water. But of course, this uses up more gas, it's kinda like boiling a cup of water every 15 mins in your kettle so you'd always be able to make a cup of tea in 20 seconds. I promptly turned this feature off.0
