What about a neighbour or even your local shopkeeper if they have known you for a decent amount of time?

    Bloody hell, all these exclusions.

My passport ran out a year or two ago.
With all these exclusions, I really don;t know who I could ask in future.

The GP's i used to work for stopped when they forms changed and they asked for their passports numbers and personal details, they didn't feel comfortable with patients having these details.

I require this for a job interview.

I do not know who I can use for this. I have not been to my doctor's in years, nor the dentist or opticians (Yeah I know I should)

Can we assume that you do not have either a passport or drivers license then? Because those would be the primary proofs of photo ID.

It's not like you not to read the OP, where it was clearly stated that it's for a job interview.

Hence the question. I am not sure if it is purely they want a photo of the applicant or they've said they want candidates to bring their passport for proof of being able to work in the UK/ proof of ID.

Never heard of anyone wanting a certified photo for an interview hence assuming its the latter.

Seen plenty of jobs where they want a photo on your CV but that didnt require certification

I had a couple of job interviews recently fofr local authorities where I was asked to bring along my passport.

I don;t have a current one (it expired in 2012, I think) so I phoned the local authorities up. They seemed OK with my passport being out of date.

Alas, I didn;t get either job.

A lot of companies request proof of residency or recognised ID nowadays - if you don't have a passport or driving licence this might be an alternative.

How is this an alternative? Its just a photo of someone with someone else writing on the back that it looks like the person in front of them?

On the basis it is for an interview the interviewer could take the photo and write on the back that it looks like the person because they just took the photo. That wouldnt prove your right to work in the UK or much else.

Well, I took the OP at face value, surely if they wanted the certified photo for a passport they would have said so, and not gone into detail about what the employer would accept. Anyway, looks like it's sorted now.

The list of occupations is only examples, not fully inclusive

    https://www.gov.uk/countersigning-passport-applications

However it does say that they must be known personally not just professionally.
