Read your meter next week - April 1st

It's that time of year when the water companies bump up their prices and then guesstimate how much you've used at the higher rate between 1st April and when they next read the meter.
If you don't want to pay more than you need, then go out and read the meter on 1st April and send the reading into the company. They won't then have the opportunity to over estimate your consumption for that period - my lot obviously thought of a number and tripled it last year but I proved to them that they'd had a reading on 1st April and that they were miles out so they had to correct it.
I now send them a reading every month, just to keep them on their toes, and since we had a leak last year, it helps me make sure that nothing is amiss.

Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

This is where the calendar thingy on the phone can really be useful.
Others may squalk "white rabbits", my sons certainly try "pinch punch" etc, while I get on with phonesnaps of meters. The inbuilt flash makes it a sight easier too.0
