Europarcs Parking ticket

Hi,

I am hoping someone can advise me what to do.

In January I letter overstayed in a Sainsburys carpark by 15 minutes as I had to take my daughter to the toinlet after I had got all the shopping and both children strapped in the car.

I appealed after getting the letter by post and I have a copy of the letter I sent and I then received a second letter which I ignored as I had already responded and I was waiting for a response. Since then I have now received a letter from Debt Recovery plus asking for £150.00. I then emailed Euro Car parks ltd asking about my appeal where they replyed by email stating that they never received it and that I could re-appeal either online or by post so I did this online and got a response saying "Dear XXXXXXX,

After a full investigation I can confirm that your appeal has been unsuccessful. Parking at the above site is limited to 3 hours. On entry to private land it is the responsibility of the driver to check for signage and ensure that your vehicle has been correctly parked.

The car park is operated by Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) – cameras capture an image of vehicles entering and leaving the car park and calculate their length of stay. Your vehicle was parked longer than 3 hours, therefore the notice was issued correctly and the charge remains payable.

Having checked our records I can confirm that a Parking charge Notice was posted to the registered keeper's address on 09/01/2014. A Notice to Keeper was then sent on 29/01/2014. We have not received any correspondence regarding this notice within the specified 28 day period, and therefore the notice has been passed to a third party debt collection agency.

We will not discuss this matter any further. This notice has now accumulated multiple administration charges in its handling due to your lack of contact and being sent to a third party.

The notice should now be paid with Debt Recovery Plus."

Please could you advise what I should do now.

    Hi browc,
Few questions for you - did you get proof of posting for your original appeal?
When did you get the email saying they hadn't received it and telling you you could re-appeal and on what date was your re-appeal submitted?
Did you identify the driver in that appeal?

They are members of the BPA and there is nothing to stop them considering late appeals and providing you with a POPLA code so you can submit an appeal to them.
After all by saying your appeal was rejected they have in effect considered it - therefore they should issue you with a POPLA code.

There's no such thing at Sainsburys. Guess you mean Euro Car parks. Please read the sticky thread which covers how to appeal and what to do at debt collector stage. This is no different to the advice already at the top of the forum. Complain to Sainsburys too.

  • I have received a letter from Debt recovery plus for a car parking notice. I overstayed in a Euro park car park in my husband's car by 20 minutes. We have received a few previous but ignored as forums said but this is now saying 'Notice of intended court action' and it's now scaring me.
We have never appealed it or alerted them to the fact i was the driver not the named vehicle owner.
    What should I do?

Cathbrock - Please start your own thread rather than resurrecting old ones. We deal with one person/problem per thread otherwise it gets confusing.

Please come back to the forum, start again at square one and don't pass 'go' until you've read the 'NEWBIES PLEASE READ THIS FIRST!' thread at the top:

Come on, the top thread covers debt collector stage and that's why it's there for you to read first, that's why the info is at the top. And yet you have posted on someone else's thread. But please, we don't need yet another thread about boring old Debt Recovery Plus either so please don't start a new thread unless you are honestly telling me that a simple 'search of this forum' for 'Recovery' as a keyword doesn't find you several hundred threads all about this junk mail and what to do with it.

And for the second time on this thread they are NOT called 'Euro Park'! Eeek, whatever happened to an eye for detail and a quick forum search...
