Why don't you crawl back into your shell !!0 -
It gets better - SEAT customer services contacted the dealer, who told them that they don't bother replacing the bolt as it just falls out again. I pointed out to SEAT that they would be aware of this, but they couldn'y answer the question. I phoned two VW dealerships today who both consulted their master tecnician - he said he had never come accross of the bolt coming loose and even if it did, they would resolve the problem for me. Surprisingly both VW dealerships were part of the same group as the SEAT dealer. Incidentally, before Dave ponts out the obvious, my car is a Alhambra, which is identical to the VW Sharan and Ford Galaxy - they even come out of the same factory.0

I don't mean to dent your crusade, but isn't this a bit of a waste of time give it's only a bolt and you yourself have admitted that it's not a safety issue? The money, Dave...0 -

Italiastar, Sidlow are RUBBISH... I have an Alhambra and live near Gatwick. I take mine to an independant who is just over the road from Sidlow Seat, he has a Galaxy himself and I have found him to be very good. He was recommended to me and seems to have most of his business on recommendation. If you PM me I will let you have his details or I will post them on here if allowed by the mods.
As an aside, when i brought my Alhambra the turbo wasn't spinning, I took it to 3 or 4 garages inc Sidlow all of whom said 'need a new turbo'. So I spent £700 odd quid on a new turbo, got a mate to fit it but the problem continued. The garage I'm talking about was recommended to me, he identified the problem as a sensor and fixed it within a day for about £50.... I could have cried! Still got a nice new turbo now!0 -

I know I shouldn't rise to you, but the ONLY waste of time on this thread is YOU :rotfl:0 -
Even Better - the muppets phoned me up last Friday and asked me if I was satisfied with the service - the poor lady who phoned had no idea of the problem - I let rip and she said she'd escelate the matter - a week later I'm still waiting for a response. SEAT customer servivces are next to useless - they're sort of making the right noises, but won't take on the dealer.
Thanks to all of you who offered usefull advice and to Dave Brooker - I suggest you apply for a job with the dealer - If I get my way they'll need a new Service Manger and you would fit the bill very well.0 -

My neighbour had a similar problem to yours - took it to the dealer who supplied my car in Hampton Court - they couldn't find anything wrong and gave it an MOT. He took it to a recommended specialist, who agreed that the car had a fault and after driving it for a few day's to diagnose the fault and getting him a ticket in the process, suspected a blown turbo. He decided to get a second opinion from another independant who assured him that his gearbox (??) was OK, weren't sure about the Turbo, but could not find the fault despite agreeing that the performance was poor. They did recommend a diesel specialist, who immediately diagnosed blown pipes to the turbo - would I be right to assume that these would leak exhast gasses resulting in an MOT failure? By this time he was also experiencing rattling from under the car - he told the garage. They repaired the pipes, but could not find what was causing the rattle. My neighbour got home and checked under the car - the whole rear section of exhast was laying accross the rear axle - once removed the rattle dissapeared. Amazingly the car is performing perfectly and not any noiser.
Ed - thank you for your advice - I'll take it up.0 -
A leak from the turbo pipes pipes would not be of exhaust gases, the turbo is part of the manifold, the exhaust gases spin the turbo which forces clean air into the engine along the pipes (basically!), the exhaust gases then continue along the manifold and out the exhaust... if it hasn't fallen off!0
