US internal flight cancelled, my options?

I booked a return flight from Las Vegas to Heathrow last week, via an online travel agent. Due to the cost of flying direct we choose to fly from LV to LA, then from LA to Heathrow, with a 2.5 hour layover. Flights were confirmed and tickets received.
A week later the flight from Las Vegas to Los Angeles has been cancelled, and the only option the travel agents are giving is a flight 4 hours early giving me a 6-7 hour layover same airline but the next flight possible.
This is obviously not what I paid for, nor agreed. Had I known I would have a 6-7 hour layover I would have gone elsewhere.
Due to the flight being an internal US flights, I am unsure as to my options for compensation for this unexpected delay?
Could anyone advise?

No compensation but have you checked to see if there is a better time on the same airline and ask the TA to change you to that one. When airlines cancel a flight they are usually very accommodating at allowing you to pick an alternative (your only problem may be you need to deal with the TA as you did not book with the airline direct)0
