d. Your one perl of wisdom: Do calculate the interest savings over the period remaining for a given overpayment as it will really help to motivate to make the payment and have no regret that it was not spent in clothes/restaurants etc etc

A- date MFW 2010
B- £98k
C- MF date Aug 2014
D- overpaid £1k pm then used savings to finalise balance.
E- nothing, some independent advice, prioritised what suited me, may not be suitable for everyone.
Property 2, should be done within 4-5yrs1 -

C MFD Year 2000 cant remember exact month
D Always paid off more as soon as spare cash was available

d. Your one perl of wisdom- keep a totaliser (blue peter style!) that you can colour in so you can see your progress, I made ours go up in £5000 amounts followed by £1000 pound amounts in the last £10000. I found it very motivating!1 -
a- Decided to be mortgage free 2005, a year after taking it out, but only paid small overpayments until income allowed us to really get stuck in, and we joined mfw 2013,
b mortgage at highest- £57,500
c- became mortgage free- June 2015
d - my tip- small savings from careful budgetting make a big difference- sometimes i only overpaid £5-£10, but it soon adds up! :beer:current official end date of mortgage= 2037-aiming for 1st March 2029. mortgage balance start of challenge- 25/11/2016 £245,695 mortgage balance 05/06/25 - £101,353.67 2025 challenge- get mortgage balance to £95,000 by new years eve 2025, and a years outgoings in premium bonds after water system paid for
Make £11,820.96 in overpayments in 20251 -

a. The date you decided to become a MFW - OH has had it on his mind since he was made redundant 2 years ago. The redundancy wasn't enough to pay it off but he went straight into a job that he hated and never wanted to be in that position again.

d. Your one perl of wisdom. Overpay, overpay, overpay. And if you get any lump sums in the meantime, use it as well.
We have no plans to mortgage again or buy anything else. And we won't feel the benefit until next year as we have a holiday to Aus planned in Jan & Xmas, a school trip which is absorbing everything at the moment. This month we're very cash poor as we paid £400 more just to pay it off.1 -
