Hi,
I am currently with EDF Blue +Price Promise April 2014.
According to my EDF bill produced on 06/01/14. They have estimated my annual usage to be £1178.33.
I have looked at afew comparison sites including MSE cheap energy club - its showing cheapest one is first utilities. I will save £144 a year. Annual cost £1184.
Not allot different but how are they calculating a savings of £144?
I have also checked on energyhelpline and its showing my current usage as £1351per year with EDF so I will save £167 if I move to first utilities. Where £1351 came from when EDF bill showing my estimated usage of £1184?
In comparison I have inputted kWh as Gas 20734 & Electric 2493. This is what on my EDF bill.
Thanks
MS

They calculate savings based on the fact that your existing contract is coming to the end and you'll probably automatically go onto the standard tariff.
You should be comparing cost not savings. If your existing contract is finishing then it's nigh on impossible to get any savings on what you are currently paying because every tariff increased last winter.
Put your annual kwh consumption into the comparison sites to find out how much it will cost you - use a couple of sites and try both dual fuel and individual tariffs. Then check for yourself by doing the sums. Make sure that vat is included in a all the calculationsNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
