Debenhams so rude!

I'm not sure where to post this but I feel the need to post somewhere!
Last night I saw a pair of boots advertised on the Debenhams website for £39.00 this included a 20% discount, but when I clicked on item and put them in my basket however they did not show the discount the boots were £49.00 so I didn't order.
I telephoned Debenhams just now to ask them what happened and they asked for the item no. which I gave them. They told me it didn't exist and that if I found their website using google it will take you to a site that doesn't exist! So I said no problem and went directly to https://www.debenhams.com. The item number was the same, and again he said it didn't exist. So I told him to find the boots he could just type in "wrap around strap detail ankle boot" they will come up. He then told me it didn't, so there was nothing he could do as he couldn't find the product.
So I said, can you call me back when you do find it? He said that his website had 'suddenly' gone down, and also he couldn't call me back. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he said there was no point. I asked again, he said ok then cut me off!
I know there a bigger battles to fight, but I am pretty peed off to be honest, this is the second time that someone has been rude to me (last time in store) and me and my boyfriend buy most of our clothes from Debenhams.
I have a screen grab showing the discount.

You may want to try the Praise Vents and Warnings board (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=82).
There unfortunately are no laws saying customer service must be polite and/or helpful so this isn't a consumer rights issue.0 -
Thanks. I think what I was trying to say was that as they advertised the boots for £39, they should sell for £39 and not tell me that the offer/boots do not exist.
I have proof with a screen grab. I'm not sure this battle is worth a fight though! I won't be shopping at debenhams now.
I'll move the post. Thanks.0 -
Lost cause I'm afraid - companies in most cases aren't obliged to sell to you at the price shown.
Generally, only once money has changed hands has a contract to sell at a set price been created. For online, this is usually not when you place the order, but when they ship the goods.0 -
