Civil Parking Notice for parking on Double yellows

Hello,

I have been given a Civil Parking Notice by the Car Parking Partnership for parking on double yellow lines on the grounds of University of Nottingham.

Obviously parking on double yellows was stupid of me but I could not see any alternative, I was not aware of any additional car parking which was available.

Can I contest the fine/invoice under these circumstances?

Thank you in advance.

Tom.

Do you truly believe that is a valid excuse for parking on double yellow lines? People never cease to amaze me!

Anyway, the thread you need is the 'Newbies' sticky thread at the top of the parking board which tells you all you need to know to deal with this ticket.
  • Hi tykesi,

    Thanks for your quick response.
I am not trying to make excuses, the point I was trying to find an answer to is... do double yellow lines, on private land, have the same legal standing as ones on a public highway?

On any forum, you are best to read the sticky threads first:

The top thread, you can't miss it...why the new thread when the advice is at the top of the forum anyway? Appeal it, the info is here already on how to win any case.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
