Haggling over Sports Add-on

Hi everyone, I've read at length (and indeed participated) about haggling with Virgin/Sky outside of contract to get good savings. But I wanted to ask if anyone has specific experience of haggling over adding an 'add-on' service during contract.

For example, I would like the football next season - not desperately - but what's stopping me is the price. Virgin advertise BT Sport for an extra £15 per month - might they concede to add it to my package for, say, £7.50 per month instead?

I suppose it's a game - the phone operator judging how likely I am to subscribe to the extra service at full price regardless; in this example I am genuinely on the fence, so if it's a question of just flicking a switch then they should take the extra money off me (but then I would say that ;))

Of course I could just call and ask but it's always good to hear some real-life anecdotes first.

Thanks.

    Since Virgin is simply a re-seller of other provider's channels there is never likely to be any leeway with that kind of haggling for individual premium channels -especially while still within the minimum term.

    However, what you might be able to strike a deal on is to upgrade to the package which offers BT Sport for free-I'm not sure it would end up being much less than the £15 cost of adding the channel individually though!

    Agree. So the only way to find out is to ask. :)

    Certain to be a new minimum term (probably eighteen months) for any such deal, of course.

    EDIT;
    Reading this thread might put the OP off asking;
