Hi everyone,
In the UK, does a landlord have the right to tell you to move out of the house (with a notice obviously) for any reason?

A landlord can serve notice for pretty much any reason he/she wants - I don't even think they have to give a reason.
Of course, they can't force you out without a court order.
If you need more detail, you may be better asking this in the housing board

The LL will have given you a lease, if it's for 6 months then you have the right to stay for the 6 months so you can be forced out until that time is up, after that they must give you proper notice of at least 2 months.
After the initial lease period is up they do not need a reason, however only a court can force you out.0 -
A lease can have a break clause in it however which would allow it to be terminated before the end of the contract with the appropriate notice0

If you are within a fixed period then any notice would have to be for when this period comes to an end. In any case a section 21 can be issued which provides min 2 months notice. After which if your still there the landlord has to apply to the courts for possession - a judge at this point, if you defend it, can allow a maximum of 42 days extension.
A section 8 can break in to a fixed term AST under certain conditions but is much stricter and can be complicated so most landlords prefer section 21.0 -

Are you living in England/Wales or Scotland?
Are you actually a tenant or a lodger (living in the same property as the landlord) ??"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
@maninthestreet: I'm a tenant living in the UK.
Thanks all for the input !0 -
Wow, sorry I meant in England.0

Are you a tenant or a lodger? Lodger means you live with the landlord and then yes they can do that.0
