CPU fan advice needed.

My ex custom-built my pc a couple of years ago, and now the CPU fan has a nasty rattle on start-up and will need to be replaced (have carefully cleaned out all the dust but it makes no difference). When I accidently unattached the CPU fan cable the rattle on start-up stopped, so I know that's the cause of the noise. (A friend gave me instructions as to how to re-attach the cable). It rattles for about 90 seconds when I first start up the pc, then stops. It's been doing this for a few weeks now and I assume it's now on borrowed time.
I'm a total novice when it comes to inside the tower, so will have to get someone else to fit a new CPU fan, however I think I can save costs by purchasing a new fan myself.
The current (iffy) fan is an Intel E30307-001, which I believe to be 3.5 inches (?), but when I googled it I couldn't find a UK supplier and as funds are very stretched I'm now looking for advice about what a good / cheap replacement would be.
Other relevant info may be that I'm reliably informed it's quad core (?!).
I never use my pc for gaming or downloading movies.
Any help / advice gratefully received

It looks like a you having LGA775 socket.
You need to look for heatsink which take LGA775 with 95W CPU
something like this would work.

PS - you will need some Isopropyl alcohol/ rubbing alcohol or thermal paste remover to remove existing thermal paste on CPU0 -
Thank you Cisco001, I will have a look. Many thanks for the adviceIt's nice to be important.....but it's more important to be nice0

Yep, that should do fine.
Run the PC then shut down just before you remove the existing heat sink, that'll make the paste less solid so easier to remove.
Make sure you thoroughly remove the existing thermal paste off the CPU back - as Cisco001 says isopropyl alcy is perfect - I find a paper kitchen towel the ideal way to apply it.
Don't touch the back of the CPU with your finger as it'll leave grease that lessens the effectiveness of the thermal paste so the fan has to run faster and louder.
The replacement heatsink will have thermal paste, usually preapplied, so you don't need to mess around with that - just check there isn't a plastic film covering it first
Watch this (in reverse order) - it really is a doddle. And no, you don't have to wear special gloves, just don't touch any of the electronic bits if you can avoid it

Thank you cookie365
I'll watch the video as it's always good to have a little bit of knowledge, but am getting someone else to actually do it as I'm not at all confident (until last week I'd never even taken the side panel off the tower before!)It's nice to be important.....but it's more important to be nice0 -
You're missing out on all the excitement of wasting hours fiddling around in the computer, dropping screws into inaccessible bits, turning it back on and discovering the hard drive isn't accessible any more, and on and on and on0

Sorry to be a pain (!) but is there a very good alternative to the Arctic Cooling Alpine 11 Pro Rev. 2 CPU Cooler? I'm just a little concerned about it's reviews on Amazon (and other sites). It seems to potentially have a few issues with size/installation.
Have tried to provide a link (below) to a photo I uploaded of the inside of my pc - with iffy fan in place.

a rattle doesn't mean it need replacing!!

It's rattling like a tin of rusty nails on start-up. Was about 30 seconds but now it lasts over 2 minutes. When I accidently unplugged the fan the rattle stopped (until I realised why the fan had stopped working and plugged it back in a few days later). There's clearly an issue with the fan and despite cleaning all the dust out of it it continues to rattle... Not quite sure what the alternative is (would very much like an easier/cheaper option, lol). It's nice to be important.....but it's more important to be nice0
