Beckyy just have a go! You can't really do anything wrong and it gets a bit addictive! Xx
Just a quick update £7 added to the sealed tin from the food purse :j
Decided as the food budget restarts tomorrow to leave the change and save the note and £2 coin.
Very happy to hear a muffled 'Ching' when the coin went in, that means the notes in there are building up! :T2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.
Mortgage @ 31/12/23 £248k - too high, interest rate gone up - want this down asap!
Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(0 -
Hello all,
Quick update from me as promised:
Spends:
£3.00 on two bottles of posh non alcoholic bubbly for a girly meet up tonight.
£1.95 for a tray of 12 doughnuts for builders and us to share.
Savings:
Hopefully another £10 for the tin tomorrow if lady turns up to collect toddler bed.
Going over a friends house tonight for a girly meet up. They are supplying a meal and pudding and I am taking the drink.
Weekend plans mainly involve 'jobs' at the bungalow, don't think there will be any big or frivolous spends.
Still using up food we have. Also made progress on the memory blanket I am making which feels good!
Speak soon

Morning All,
Yesterday was a NO SPEND DAY!
Popped to B&Q to get some paint charts and spent the rest of the time doing jobs at the bungalow.
Really wanted to get a takeaway in the evening as I was so tired but knowing I was going to update here and having pledged to be frugal I make spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread instead.
Feels like a mini breakthrough in getting my grit, resolve and determination back to stay on track.
Just going to check our fridge etc and then will be back to post today's aims.

Ok aims for today:
-
Food shop - only buy 2 x milks, 1 x musli, 1 x shreddies & apples
Get bread out of freezer.
Do two loads of washing before going out and hang on line
Do a quick tidy before going out so nice to come home to.
Pressure wash the patio before going out so it has time to dry in sun.
Put all washing away before bed.
Weed veg plot at bungalow.
Enjoy the sun!
Hope you are all having a good weekend

I like getting lists done and crossing off what you get done, demonstrates what you have achieved, even when you feel like nothing had been done at the end of the day even if it's just small things, they all add up and take time.
I'm going to try it more often with home and money stuff. I've always been one for lists in work.
Well done on resisting the takeaway last night it all adds up

Thanks Welshlassie! Xx
So I stuck to the list - the only thing that didn't get done was the pressure washing of that patio.
Spends so far:
£7.67 - food as per above list.
£3.49 - new ironing board cover
£3.25 - USB stick to put photos on as part of a wedding present.
£133.25 - paint for the big plan (saved £33 with offers)
£51.00 - 9 x gorgeous solid pine internal doors with brass effect handles (ebay bargain)
All going very quickly here! Annexe will be ready for painting next week! Our building work to start next month.
Hoping to put some more pennies in the sealed tin from this weeks food budget. Also still trying to sell the toddler bed.
Very exciting times :-)

I'm just looking to replace some of our internal doors, never thought to try eBay - what a bargain!! Most of the ones I were seeing were at least that each, let alone for 9 :eek:0
-
I had budgeted £55 per door x 9, realised that was completely unaffordable and then found that bargain! £51 x 1 fits a lot better in my budget! I've just read the whole of your diary! You've given me the push to get back on with OPing our mortgage. I'd love to hear how you're getting on with the bungalow.0

Hello all,
Lots going on here
Will do a full financial update here later as I need to get the figures from the computer but it is all systems go!
Annexe is finished, in laws moved in and in our side we have knocked the walls down. Some windows are being blocked up tomorrow and the builder is starting to put the new stud walls up.
Will update properly later but feeling the need to be a bit more accountable as money is flowing out much faster than it is coming in
Speak later
