Yes it will effect your housing benefit and any benefits you may be on, if they are Income Based..
There is an earnings disregard for a partner depends on what benefits you claim, could be £5, £10 or £20 then her earnings will be taking in pound for pound.
Is there a chance she can up her hours so you can claim WTC?

Unless your wife is under 21, even at 16 hours, that works out under the National Minimum Wage, which means the employer is breaking the law.

It's the amount she earns that may have an impact on benefits, not whether she pays NI and/or tax.

NMW is still currently £6.31 per hour, x 16 hours is £100.96

    Exactly!.....

Perhaps the OP didn't feel it was necessary to mention 96p.

But its that extra 96p which stops some people claiming carer's allowance. I do know it's nothing to do with the OP but every penny counts sometimes 96p stops you getting £59.75.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

Yes I know, that is why I have stated it in my post. But it sometimes can make all the difference, the odd pence can mean between you getting a benefit or not, that was my point.

That's fine but in no way does it help the OPs question so why mention it?

It might help someone else who reads the post who is getting CA or thinking about claiming it.

We'd then just be as well having one giant thread talking about every type of benefit that exists.

I'm not saying it isn't helpful to someone but there are already threads on carers allowance so this information should be posted where it is relevant.

Threads are like conversations - sometimes information that's not directly relevant to the subject gets raised.
