Cloud 9 or Tredaire Dreamwalk are considered the best underlays on the market. The thicker the better as it will give you a real luxurious feeling underfoot. Probably at least 11 mm thick would be the ideal thickness to go for unless it's for an area that will be little used.

Yes, absolutely. I bought new gripper bars, door bars & underlay online & it was all fitted by carpet fitter when he came to lay the new carpets.
Just tell fitter beforehand that you already have all necessary underlay etc. so don't need any supplied.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
