OP , have you actually spoke to your neighbour bar one?Do you actually know why the neighbour is unhappy, from the horses mouth, not from idle gossip.

She told me last year that she was unhappy with the parking bay as it was directly outside her house. She told me it was herwho was appealing the bay, and said she would fight until she got her way.

Her exact words were 'Why should you get priority parking when nobody else can?'

She claimed that the bay had knocked £10k off her homes value as she wouldn't be able to guarantee being able to park outside her own home.

The thing is she has never been able to guarantee this.

She is the 4th house down from the junction at the end of our street, I am the 2nd house down from the junction. The yellow lines extend to 3/4 of the way along the 3rd house down from the junction, so there are 3 houses that have no parking at all outside of them. Therefore the closest parking space available at the end of the double yellows is always in demand from 4 of the houses.

When I applied for the bay I made the suggestion that the bay be placed where the yellow lines are so as to preserve the existing parking.

It would in fact have increased the availability of parking as my car would no longer be competing with the others for the limited space available, but the council in their infinite wisdom refused this claiming that the lines needed to extend around the corner this far for traffic flow purposes.

This despite the fact that at the other end of the street, where the width of the road is over 1m shorter than our end of the street (there is a dog leg in the street and the width is different either side of the dogleg), there are only yellow lines on one side of the road (rather than both sides as per our end), and these lines extend around the corner by only 1.7m (I know I've measured), and there is as much traffic flow at that end as there is ours as per the results of the most recent traffic survey which took place on the street.

Unfortunately she has again parked in the bay today using a different badge. I have been out an photographed the badge, photographed the car, and I have emailed the blue badge team at the council. I will also write to them, and phone them when the open on Tuesday (They only open Tues to Thurs)

If by some miracle this badge is legit then I have no choice but to accept the issue and compete for the parking space as usual and park on double yellows when I need to for the 3 hours which are available. I may have to make contact with the council to see about the possibility of another bay, but I don't hold much hope that it will be possible.

Who is ""she"" are you saying that the same belligerent neighbour is parking her own car now with a BB - or are you saying someone unknown in an unknown vehicle is using the space legitimately ?

If the badge is legit, then photograph the driver whilst driving and in the particular the fact that the vehicle apart from the driver was empty and not carrying the named user at the time. Then we are back to continuing to report the BB user for a BB check. If the BB is legit and is a friend of the neighbour then they are in collusion to frustrate your use of the bay. In this case I have no sympathy for the BB user in question and the badge should be revoked completely or in the very least suspended for 3 months or whatever they decide.

Any BB user misusing the badge should lose it and the benefit it brings.

There's a disabled parking bay in my street, and it has a sign saying "parking for permit number D1234 only".

This doesn't allow any other blue badge holder parking 'rights' and other cars will and have, been towed away.
just passing through.... Nothing to see....
  • Many LAs wont do this, including my own. I took this up with the council who actually DENIED any Authority allowed residential bay to be for sole use of the permit holder.

I went through years of aggro with another badge holder parking in the bay that's registered to my property. Yep, I can only have one registered per property, you have to pay to have them done but have no right to park in them.

    Stupid imo.
