sick of sky BB

We have had Sky broadband for a number of years and at the start of this year we've been having intermittent problems with it dropping out where the smiley face on the hub keeps flashing orange and going out. We have phoned sky about 3 or 4 times and they initially told us it was a problem with the line and would get BT to ring us but nothing materialised. Each time we ring, the person ddoesn't make any notes and we have to start all over again.

We have talked about switching to BTfibre but the price puts me off. The internet has played up again this afternoon again. I need the internet to search for jobs as I've just started a claim for JSA. I can go to my Mom's and use her internet but this isn't a long term solution.

Any advice please? We only pay £3.75 for our BB at the moment.

Have you tried plugging the router into your Master test socket. If not do so see if it makes a difference. Also take your router line statistics and post the results.

I know how to use the master socket but how do you do the other bit?

We called them again last night and they said this time it was a faulty filter box and are sending out a new one. The wires are now plugged into the master socket. There was a lot of interference on the line. When we actually pressed the dial button on the phone to call Sky the internet came back on, which was really weird.

Sounds like their is a dodgy joint somewhere, or a filter issue. You do have filters on all the phone sockets you use?
If the line is crackly then that needs sorting.

The info you provide shows your speed as 11264 Kbps down and 799kbps up.

If you look at the bottom of that page you should see Show Statistics.
Click that and there will be more info.

We only use the one socket, which is the main one in the front room. The other phone in the hall is wireless.

    Here are the statistics.

    Cheers, they look very good.
Intermittent faults are the most difficult to sort, I've had dry joints a couple of times in the boxes between the house and the exchange.
Pop the new filter in when it arrives and see if the bb drops out when you lift the receiver.
