Barclays Unicorn Capital Trust

I am dealing with a deceased persons estate,and amongst the documents I have a share certificate for Barclays Unicorn Capital Trust.
I have spoken to Barclays local branch and they said the funds had been transferred to Legal and General, then told byLegal and General the funds had later been transferred back to Barclays in 2011
Despite quoting the cert number and account number L and G said that these numbers did not match any of the accounts previously held by them.
I seem to have hit a brick wall, has anyone got any advice as to where I can go next.
I am presuming that as the relative still held the share cert. that some funds would be held, does this seem right.
