I worked for about 5 yrs before my husband was posted to Germany (Army) where our daughter was born within the first year. Then approx 20 yrs claiming child benefit. By the time last child was 16 I was ill and receiving SDA. Back in the UK by then but too ill to work. DLa was awarded soon after SDA.

So, very little employment and SERPS never came into the equation.

I am waiting for my pension statement.

It sounds as though you will have enough years although I'm not 100% sure 30 is the right amount because I think women born before 1950 need 39 years to qualify for full state pension. Or whether you are in the phased age group born between 1950 and 1953 which I think is 30.

However that should still give you enough regardless as 20 + 18 + 5

Let us know what your pension statement says.

If she only has DLA for care, it won't matter but if she is getting DLA for mobility problems, she should go for PIP.

She has HRC and HRM. I think she's just waiting to see what happens next- if shed been 6 months younger it wouldn't have affected her :(

I think you are going to have to transfer to PIP from DLA because it's only those that were 65 before April 2013 that won't have to transfer or who have already reached 65 since.

But I would wait for them to ask you to transfer because it may end up being by the time they get to you, you will be 65 given how far behind they are with things!!

Just stick to your guns about entitlement to DLA/PIP post 65 as you were already in receipt of it.

I don't think it will come up at this point because you will still only be 62 when you draw your State Pension.

One point everyone generally once we get to the group that will have to take their state pension at 66 (which is post 1954/55 age group will this mean PIP entitlement will be up to 66 not 65 for new claims?
