Many thanks to Imnoexpert for the tip about the portfolio tools on Trustnet. The service certainly does look a lot more sophisticated than that provided by iii. I think I'll set up an account just for the portfolio analysis functionality. I'm new to online trading and iii is the first platform I've used so I'm pretty clueless about what's available out there, a case of what you've never had, you don't miss.

    As a fellow sufferer, commiserations.
I tend to think of myself as terribly logical but this little bit of OCD shows that I am far from it! ;)

The tools on trustnet are very useful, detailing where your money is actually invested, showing the amount and allocation of your individual largest company's, to business areas and geographical spread.

The risk analysis is fine in a general sense, as this aspect is always up for debate. I was actually surprised when adding higher risk funds at how the portfolio risk spread, but thinking logically a wide spread of high risk assets should mean less correlation and so an overall lower risk level, but it's good that I've considered this which is a function of using trustnet.

I have used Trustnet for years for its analysis tool. Now with their new website/platform, its a joy to use. If III fail me - and I know they won't - TN would be an early contestant.
Meanwhile with all the new money - my £20 - going to III, they will have an opportunity to plough that into their website. ;)
  • Just to follow up I should say that the reason I couldn't find portfolio analysis tools on the II site is that they don't have any.

I won't be doing much now until my wedge gets moved across from hl. Then it will be isa investing season!

    Any other thoughts on II?
