"quiet" smoke alarm

Hi,
Has anyone ever heard of a smoke/CO alarms that have a gradual noise level build-up? So that they don't scare the *** out of you, but increase in loudness gradually? I've tried looking for one, but to my amazement without any success...
Thanks!

Minutes count if there is a fire. Having a gradual noise build-up could mean that by the time the alarm is loud enough to wake you up, it's too late.

    Never heard of one......
But surely the idea of the thing IS to scar the **** out of you ??
  • never come across one.

Doubt if you will find one as that would defeat the object of a smoke alarm.

I do liked to be proved wrong so if you do find one please do post.

Yes, I also found the Nest alarm. However, it's got rather mixed reviews and is unnecessarily expensive.
I also strongly disagree that a smoke alarm needs to be sudden - it can escalate the noise in a matter of 15-20 seconds so would not waste time, but it also would not give you a heart attack if going off in the middle of the night!
Haven't found any other ones, so if you see one, please post here.

Within 2-3 minutes is considered the ideal escape time in a fire. 20 seconds to hear the alarm get loud, another 10 -15 to think !!!!!! and get bum out of bed. However many more to check other occupants of the house are on their way out......
Personally I'd go for the scaring the bejesus out of me option rather than losing that proportion of my escape time.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I also thought the original post was a joke. I was going to ask if a firm that sells these also makes doors that have a button to release the lock if you forget your key.

Why the hell would the smoke alarm go off in the middle of the night!?
I get annoyed by ours going off if I burn the toast, but I also appreciate that the whole point of it is to sound a very clear and very instant noise! 20 seconds could be a long time if your house is on fire!!

Nor are they available with a snooze button...
Surely this has to be a wind-up?
