Iphone 5C, Sound Like A Good Deal?

I found this on EE, £18.99 a month for 2 years = £456
The phone is £99 up front, so total £555.

Average £23.13 a month, 4G, 500mb, 1000 minutes, unlimited texts.

£110 cashback through Quidco brings it down to £18.54 a month.

The only negative is the phone has only 8GB, a 16GB version is £199 up front. That would increase the cost to £22.70 a month.

I know the Iphone 5C is not universally popular but it will do me!

What do you think?

Dave.

Depends whether you're a heavy user- if you are even a mildly heavy user then 8GB will not be enough for you (remember iOS takes up an awful lot of space too- which will only get more with future OS updates!)

I would disagree, for the average phone user 8GB is enough, it's only if you want lots of music, and then games and video that the storage will be a problem. As a text/email/ browsing phone with the normal apps added it would suffice for many users.

My only problem with the deal is only 500MB of data. That could be a problem if the user does a lot of browsing or iPlayer type streaming.

The other negative is that it is a contract with 2013s worst mobile network

If you have enough minutes and data the plan should be fine, although EE have terrible customer services and refuse to abide by Ofcom rules but that's another discussion.

The 8GB phone should be fine most of the time. I currently have an 8GB iPhone 4, and although I don't have a massive amount of games, apps or music I have about 1.3GB of free space. It's fine most of the time, but when apple release a major iOS Update it can require 2GB of free space, so off comes the music. It's annoying but manageable.
  • I suggest you get 16 or 32gb...it's better to have enough memory so you can have a big space for your music, games and other apps.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I have just checked my iphone 4 and I have used 9gb of memory in 2 years. 3gb of that is videos which my kids used to watch, they use the ipad for that now!

Still tempted to go for the 16gb version, if only the deal was £40 extra like the phone is to buy outright I would! Must be that the 8gb version is proving harder to shift.

500gb a month is fine for me, only got 250 at the moment, never gone over. What's more concerning is the hate for EE! I think I will have to read a few of these threads first....

Actually Apple have just released the 8GB version for the iPhone 5C so maybe a new phone sort of deal. The 5C doesn't seem to be selling that well, as normally Apple releases a 8GB version, like others have stated that they have, when the iPhone is in its last "lifecycle" (usually three rounds of new iPhones, unless you have an iPhone 5!)

And I wholeheartedly agree with Simon, a new iOS update is very annoying- made worse by Apple who downloads each update automatically for you, taking up more space- I remember with my iPad, I was being stubborn and not moving to iOS 7 (why is a whole other discussion), and eventually I was forced to due to a lack of space for music and a new app I wanted to install, which just happened to be entirely offline and was pushing 1GB!

I've got an 8gb iPhone 4 which has been fine space wise - but I have my music on a separate old iPod nano and have not upgraded to iOS 7 as I like the older version, as long as I remember to clear my photos/videos I've always had enough space.

I did see this deal as I've been looking at upgrade options but think ill keep my iPhone 4 going another year as it works fine and from what I've heard about EE they don't sound great, I'm with Vodafone - know they have a lot of complaints but I've never had problems. I'm not keen to get tied into a 2 year contract if EE customer services are as bad as I keep hearing!

Having said that I'm paying £20.50 a month at the mo for an old iPhone 4 so do need to start looking for a cheaper sim only deal I know.

I've just ordered free payg sims to see what has the best signal by me and will go from there.

Update, I have gone for the 8GB iphone 5C deal, which was £99 upfront and £18.99 a month. Phone arriving on Wednesday.

Quidco cashback has tracked, might have to wait a few months though.

I thought it was a good deal, if it works out OK I might get another for my girlfriend!

Update on this. Had my phone 3 months now and the cashback is going through (£110 from Quidco). I am very happy! The iphone 5C is in a different league to the 4.

Not had any problems with EE, I guess I'll find out how good they are when something goes wrong.

I'm impressed with 4G as well, when I can get it. Not gone over my 500gb limit so far either.

Guessing this deal might have ended now, I would recommend anything similar though.
