Internet/Broadband with no phone

I live on a boat & have no BT line. I would like to get broadband (or even just a normal poxy internet connection!) using a wireless modem thing (am a bit of a technophobe so not sure if I have described it properly!)

I live in Canary Wharf & read in the Metro that they have rolled out a new wireless system but can't find anything on google!

Please advise me on what my options are! Thanking you all

One option is to use a mobile phone as a modem using either GPRS or 3G.

You need the right phone, plenty of recent phones can do this and the right data package.

If its just for email and a bit of surfing this should work ok.

PAYG data packages start at £1 a day on Orange. Daily package so pay on the days you use don't pay on the days you don't.

If your using daily then cheaper to get something like TMobiles WebnWalk £7.50 a month contract. You need a TMobile phone contract as well, I think they had a basic Sim only one for £7.50 a month giving a total of £15 a month.

If you are a heavy user this won't be a good option as the mobile networks won't tolerate heavy users.

All assumes you can get a mobile signal.
