Can't believe we live in this time and age when there is still something that there is nothing you can do about, no where to complain... It seems that what the binmen are saying is like God... you have to take it as it is...0

Have they collected the rubbish ?. If not I suggest do like what the people on "benefit street tv serial" are doing. Put it on the middle of the street and call the council and tell them what you have done .... They will definitely come to collect it immediately ..
do it with your own risk, lol ....
Oh dear.. is taking advice from Benefit Street really what we have come to?0 -

The council must have a formal written complaints procedure, that's a requirement. Use that instead of phoning up specific departments. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

In Milton Keynes, we have to put our rubbish 'on the border where our property meets the highway'. This is typically the end of our driveway, and never had an issue.
I too remember the days where they'd come around to the back of the house, empty the black sacks from the bins and leave new ones behind! And I'm not even that old (29!). In reality, that practice had to stop but common sense should still be applied0 -

If you leave it out on the pavement for too long and it gets a complaint they will fine or warn you, but as usual their practice to collect within two days could have you walking straight into this.
Also watch out for the stasi, these are the councils hit squad for bin rules enforcement. My Mum who was ill at the time was surrounded by three of them and accosted aggressively from three sides.
When I complained about bullying I got a very curt, aggressive and dismissive letter from the boss. It explained where the stazi get their aggression from!
It's a disgrace that they can fund these people to drive around in nice cars essentially harassing people and ganging up on them but they have to cut back the collection service to the point where we have to visit the dump ourselves!
Then they have the cheek to say it's not to save money, bullocks, you are saving money and spending it on nice cars and salaries for staff you don't need! It's our f*cking money. *rseholes.
Stop using our money on pointless job positions pls. Stop using our money to set up a system to fine us to make you even richer pls. Stop treating us like your personal cash cow pinata. Thank you.

The bin men of today have a hard job don't they... not.
Where I live, if they cannot pull a bin to the lorry with one hand they do not take it as it is too heavy!!!!!.
I remember when bin men hoisted a metal dustbin from your garden on their shoulders! (they then changed to "rubber" bins before the wheelie bins) now that was a hard job, glad those days are gone though as they must have suffered with back and shoulder problems, the job is a lot easier now.
I remember the last of the midden men, who shoveled from a midden heap into a big basket, put it on their back and tipped it into the lorry.

Councils are being squeezed for cash. Near me bin services have been hit hard. The bin men are expected to do a collection every 10 or so seconds so i've been toldand that includes getting the assisted collections bins for the disabled from their property unloading it in the van and returning it back to the property, the guys sprint quicker than usain bolt. No wonder some bins get accidentally missed.
If mine does get missed its no biggy to me to take some rubbish to the tip the council also offer as a mean to dispose of the rubbish or wait 7 days for it to be picked up. Wow you have to wait 2 days for the bin wagon to make a special journey to you and im sure that in this day and age of computers that your missed bin collection would be logged so it would be very unlikely you would get a fine for leaving it out. Did you even ask this if you were that concerned when you reported it ...
Services are being squeezed hard, council tax pays for things like road repairs, street lights, social services, schools. It is only the top brass in big cars I know my friends who work ias front line local government are working hard ..doing more and more and having below inflation wages and private sector wages are much higher for equivilent jobs.
Its very easy to lump public sector workers in such degoratory terms... Most of them (over half) work part time and a quarter of workers (2012) earn less than living wage. So hardly swanning around in big cars !Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...
Pet Peeves.... queues, vain people and hypocrites ..not necessarily in that order.0 -

I don't care how hard they are being squeezed we are paying MORE for LESS and being told lies that it is for the environment when its clearly a cynical cash in, that is unacceptable and it is happening with services across the board.
The cars were council branded work cars for the sole purpose of ferrying bullies around the place to do what is frankly a complete non-job that they were in my opinion poorly trained to do. They looked very nice and new.
If councils are being squeezed so hard they should get more efficient not start employing a scatter gun approach to using fines as income which probably works out more expensive in the long run with all the admin. and staff to police it.
It is UNACCEPTABLE. We are all struggling but this kind of behavior wouldn't be tolerated from anyone else, because it's the council their is some kind of extreme apathy in tackling it.
Also it's lovely that you are willing to go to the dump when they miss your bin but try having to do it every week because the council has halved your collection but not given you enough capacity to carry you through. If it was really about recycling they would give us a recycling bin that was big enough for the number of people living here.
This kind of thing only makes sense in council land any where else it would be considered bewilderingly absurd.0
