Hello MSE'ers!
The House of Commons Transport Committee (which scrutinises the Department for Transport) needs your experiences of using services provided by Government motoring agencies*
Whether you’re a private vehicle owner, licensed taxi driver, haulier or other road user – please fill out our online survey to help us build a better picture of motorists’ experiences.
The survey will remain open until Tuesday 22 April 2014:
Online Survey: Government Motoring Agencies: the user experience
About the Inquiry:
Launching the online survey Louise Ellman, Chair of the Transport Committee, said today,
“The Government’s motoring agencies are changing and two (DSA and VOSA) are shortly to merge. All of them rely increasingly on websites and email for delivering services.
We need to find out if these changes will deliver a better service when you do things like book a driving or vehicle test, apply for a driving, PSV or HGV license, register a vehicle or submit a SORN, and seek authorisation for motor vehicles, systems and components.
Your experiences will form an important part of the evidence we gather for our inquiry. If you find these services easy to access, affordable and well run please tell us via our survey. And if you face problems please tell us how these arose and whether they were dealt with quickly and fairly.”
Find out More:
To keep up to date with the progress of the inquiry go to Inquiry page: Government motoring agencies - the user perspective
For more information about the work of the Commons Transport Committee visit the Transport Committee Homepage
*The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), the soon to be merged Driving Standards Agency (DSA) and Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), and the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA).
Please note no personal details are requested by this survey however your input will help to inform the work of the Committee.
Many thanks

The Commons Transport Committee needs your experiences
"We do not work for or represent the government"
Who exactly is this for then? You don't work for the government but you are collecting information for the government. Isn't that a bit of a paradox?
If I was collecting information for the government I would say I was working for them.0 -

Hi scotsbob
We don't work for or represent the government - that is correct. The House of Commons Transport Committee is a Committee of MPs who scrutinise the work of the government's Department for Transport and associated agencies.
Your experiences and your responses to the survey are being requested by the Transport Committee so they can inform their inquiry into Government Motoring Agencies.
To find out more about the work of the Committee please do visit: http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/transport-committee/role/
Thanks

OOOH so we can complain about DVLA releasing keeper details to parking parasites who breach not only the BPA code of practice but also the DVLAs own KADOE contract?

LOL, he is confused about who he works for
I don't think he's the one who's confused about that.
You seem to be confusing "The Government" with the "House of Commons" - they're very different, but related. Any HoC committee is politically impartial and composed of members of all major parties. The Gov't is definitely not politically impartial, and is formed by the political party which wins most seats at the General Election. If there's no overall majority for any party, the largest party can choose to form a minority Gov't or can seek a coalition to form a majority Gov't (as in 2010).
Official Rep - I presume this is good for wider dissemination?0 -
