The checker says it's only for new customers, how did it work for you if you have an existing card with them?

I ticked I wasn't an existing customer. You're allowed more than one card with them, and I can't imagine the credit scoring being much different, only existing account conduct being taken into consideration for existing customers.

Anyway, I was accepted, £500 limit at 35% roughly.

Thanks, think I'll give it a nosey then :)

I have an old classic card with them somewhere.

I applied for this for a bit of a laugh just to see how/if the eligibility checker worked and for reference for anyone trying on here.

Came up "excellent" for all except the business & Aspire but I quite like the free tenner and foreign purchase aspect so fired in for the Classic Extra Card.

First time my application online wasn't instant but one of those wee cheeky referrals. Got a letter 2 days letter saying accepted with max limit (£1500) and the rep APR 34.94%.

So if you apply and it says your chances are excellent but you still get referred, good chance you can still get max limit & rep APR.

Referral doesn't even mean its gone to an underwriter. Sometimes the feed from the credit agency is just a bit slow. The last time I applied for an Amex card I got a referral message and then literally got an acceptance email 30 seconds later.
  • I used the soft search at the weekend, all cards came up excellent, and was accepted immediately for the extra. No letter to state the limit yet but just wanted to pipe in that the pre eligibility check seems quite accurate for them.

And, of course soft searching is a data collecting operation, data is money whichever way you look at it and I would be surprised if MSEs checker didn't use data collected too, albeit not the most accurate tool out there.
