What a load of rubbish. My ex husband used to get me to do all the viewings on properties & his attitude was if you're happy with it, then that's all that matters.

For the most part it's the woman who has the final say on a property anyway. If Mrs doesn't like it, then Mr will usually agree to walk away & look elsewhere.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Do the owners live at the property? If so, if you decide to offer, offer via the agent in writing and post a copy through the owners door. State in your offer that you are doing so as the EA had stated they won't pass the offer on.

It always view and offer on properties without my husband, he is not interested, knows I have more knowledge and he knows who will be looking after the properties. ME!
  • Unfortunately the owners live abroad but there are house sitters (relatives ) minding the property so if my wife does want to offer i will leave a letter through the door if the Estate Agents refuse to accept and inform the vendor...

Ask to speak to an adult at the EA. They'll sort it.

Complete rubbish. Many years ago I worked in an estate agent's office, we had a lady come in and make an offer on a flat she hadn't even viewed and didn't intend to. It turned out her granny owned the identical flat above it and the purchaser didn't want to the vendor to know exactly who was making the offer until it had been accepted as she didn't want them using this knowledge to hold out for a higher price. Unusual as it was, the offer was put forward, was accepted and the sale went through.

And another one, a chap put an offer in on a house his wife hadn't seen. It was accepted, I then got the job of taking them both back on another visit so she could see it. It was one of those houses you see on TV where it was completely full of junk from top to bottom. We could barely get round it, chickens were walking in and out through the open kitchen door, there was dogpoo on the carpets, a noose hanging in the kitchen, and the vendor, drunk, was lying in his bed in the lounge with the TV on. 'Alright mate' said the purchaser as we wandered through (I'd never been there before, the manager sent me with these people just so I could see it). We hadn't been able to measure it, we weren't even entirely sure how many rooms it had.

Anyway, the wife was happy enough to go along with the husband's decision, as they'd taken on these sorts of projects before.

  • Sounds a bit like the estate agent who told me to 'go away and talk to my husband' when I was renegotiating the price of our house'. Clearly he thought a stern talking from my better, more intelligent half who understands our finances better than me would stop me from turning down his pitiful offer.

I won in the end :)
  • I will be asking her again to clarify what she said. Never heard anything like it before...

It's rubbish. My buyer made on offer after the wife viewed the house.

    The offer was accepted.

and they came for a further viewing, together, a week or so later, which was the first time the husband had seen the property. It's purely a private matter between the husband and wife concerned.
