I need a car for business, but the business is not registered in the UK.

Neilmcl - your answer is very helpful and gives me an option to pursue.
I think most answers here are appalling. Basically, everyone thinks it should be somebody elses problem and that is the route of most troubles in the world.
What you guys dont see is the efforts being made here. I am looking to start a new business in the UK which is already a success in Spain and France. However, a business does not just "happen" and it is my role to work through all the obstacles and set something up that will benefit people in the UK and make a contribution to our economy.
If I just left all decisions to "somebody else" then nothing would get done. So please stop being so short sighted on issues and help with the question.
so are you going to administer your own payroll, PAYE and NI payments every month etc etc? How far will you take this 'I do everything' approach? I'm fascinated! The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
The key problem here is a lack of a UK physical address by the Spanish company and a lack of credit history.
Let's say the Spanish company bank with Santander.es, then they should approach a leasing arm of Santander.co.uk (I believe Santander UK have a couple of fleet leasing companies without researching).
Otherwise the only way forward is a personal lease. The man without a signature.0 -

Well that is easy, use an accountant. That is sorted. Payroll, pension, PAYE, NI...all sorted out without a hitch.
Car is the only problem right now.
Car and invoicing customers in the UK as the accounts system is based around euro's...but that is another thread in another forum.0 -
Are you actually employed by this company?0

Thanks for clearing up the situation. I agree - the world needs more people who just get on and do stuff.
If you can't lease a car, would it be possible to buy one? Or could they lend you the money to buy one in your own name? I realise these suggestions are fraught with potential problems, but as you can't do it the 'normal' way, you'll need to do some lateral thinking.
Another thought - instead of going to a lease company and saying the company is registered in Spain etc etc, present it as a problem - 'Hi, I'm not sure if you can help, but my company is registered abroad and I need to lease a car in the UK. What's the best way of doing it?' It might just work - and at the very least it should get you put through to a 'higher up' who might know for sure whether it's do-able or not.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -

Yup - everything is so much easier in countries where folks use euros and drive on the 'right' side of the road.
You should talk to your MP and MEP about it.0 -
make your mind up. Is it your company or is it a company you work for? If you work for them then its not your problemNeilmcl - your answer is very helpful and gives me an option to pursue.
